re: several recent posts on the status of Mr. Chamberlain:

during the past few Yankees games (notably, the sweep of KC this weekend), (when they wern't talking about A-rod's 500th homeun or Matsui's 100th) there was talk at times by the announcers about Joba: When will he be brought up / he was brought to NYC to get a passport since the Yankees were leaving for Toronto after last night's game / will he be a starter or a reliever / etc. They've done everything but mention that he's from Nebraska (ref: my earlier comments on the geographic ignorance of most people on the east coast).

One comment on the starter/reliever topic was something to the effect of (I think it was Bobby Murcer talking) "I've talked with him, and he's an impressive young man as well as pitcher. He will someday be a starter, but now, he has the attitude and mental toughness to be a reliever". On his recent two innings pitched / five strikouts, Murcer wondered if the sixth player threw himself in front of the pitch just so as to avoid being stuck out (it was pretty funny when he said it)

ps: those same announcers talked quite a bit about Alex Gordon as well, again, neglecting to mention his alma mater.
