Mike,

Thanks for the link. There are said to be 2 reasons for his trip to AA.  1)
He was in NY to get his passport as ordered by the club and the AA team is
closer and they wanted him to get a workout Wednesday.  2) If he needed to
be called up, he'd be a lot closer to NY and could get there quickly.

The Yankees optioned Joba Chamberlain back down to
class AA Trenton yesterday, but it sounds like this
isn't much of a demotion.  Seems that
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is going to be on a road trip,
and the Yankees want to keep Joba closer to New York
for a possible call-up at a moment's notice.  Last
night for Trenton, he had a perfect inning in relief
against Binghamton, NY.  Joba spent part of Wednesday
in New York City getting a passport since the Yankees
head to Toronto next Monday.
