Bob, you are a frequent poster, and I appreciate your contributions to
this list. However, I do not believe there is any basis for you and
Scott to criticize those that believe the degree of change that took
place within the football program did not need to happen. We will never
know -- had Solich stayed in charge, things very well may have returned
to "normal", and we wouldn't be having these discussions. Conversely, I
acknowledge that we have no way of knowing what would have happened had
Solich stayed on -- perhaps the team would be in worse shape than they
are now (without making ANY judgments regarding the current state of
affairs). I respect your opinion that the change was unavoidable, and
likely for the better; I just don't think it's right to ridicule those
that don't share that same opinion.
Boy, nothing like the old Frank/Bill/Steve thread to get some lively
off-season debate going, eh?!?
On another note, can those of you closer to the baseball program provide
any insight into this year's team? It seems like they've been
struggling a bit more this year. What's going on? I did hear the end
of the last Oklahoma game on the radio, and it was said that maybe this
team would start to peak late in the season, as opposed to last year's
team which did the opposite. Just wondering how things are going.

As incredible as it may be I do believe a certain amount of fans
expected those things. I also believe many people figured the day would
never come when the current head coach wouldn't name his successor.
But, that would also preclude a head coach would never be fired.
