[Husker] Perlman gives Pederson a vote of confidence

I can still remember when Tom Osborne "ruined" Husker football. He couldn't
beat OU...he couldn't win big games...and then he turned the Huskers into an
"option" offense in the late 70's, early 80's. How ridiculous was
that...the option was dead. Then in 83, after he'd been the head coach for
10 years, he finally got some respect...by LOSING to Miami. Of course, that
respect was short-lived. Soon, Nebraska was labeled as an outdated team
that would never be able to keep up with the teams from Florida. By the mid
90's, that attitude changed again, and Osborne was beloved and labeled a
genius.
By the way...what happened to those "great" Florida teams. Of course, UF
won the NC this year, but how about the records of all of them over the past
3 years. Let's see...
Florida: 7-5, 9-3, and 13-1...overall: 29-9
Florida St: 9-3, 8-5, and 7-6...overall: 24-14
Miami: 9-3, 9-3, and 7-6...overall: 25-12
The Huskers...5-6, 8-4, and 9-5...overall: 22-15
While Nebraska certainly doesn't have as good a record as those teams, they
still are in their leagues. Consider that the Huskers dramatically changed
their offense (none of those teams can say that) and I would venture to say
that the Huskers are in a very good position to make a move to the top.
Remember folks, going into the 4th quarter, the Huskers were in a position
to win EVERY game last year (even USC, OSU, and OU).
Unless the defense completely collapses, I think the Huskers will make it to
a BCS game THIS year.
