I agree you can give or not give whatever, whenever you want. I have always
thought we were Nebraska fans - not Athletic director fans, or Coach fans,
or even player fans in college. We are Nebraska fans. It's "the name on the
front of the jersey - not the back" - that we are rooting for. I have never
understood the mentality that" I will punish Nebraska by not supporting or
not giving" because of one person or event - because it is those wrestlers
that suffer - not anyone else. Still the school my brothers, my Dad and I
graduated from. Still the school my daughter attends and will graduate (I
hope in less than 5 years!!!!!). Just my opinion - objective - of course -
through Husker colored glasses!.

I certainly do not think he deserves any accolades for his handling of
the FB team.

Yes that is my opinion. Guess what, opinions are not objective. They
are biased. Mine are, so are yours.

This thread was started because HP said what a great job he is doing.
I beg to differ. The beauty of NU is that athletics are funded with
donations and receipts, not tax $ or student fees. Thus you are free to
vote with your wallet. If you think SP is doing a fine job, write a
check, not an email. If not, let the people who call asking for money
know your opinion (trust me if you have donated much at all, then they
will call). My answer is the, I refuse to give $ until SP is gone. The
FB could care less about a couple hundred dollars, but my donations
went to the Wrestling team, who needs every penny they can get. I still
refuse to subsidize what is, in my opinion, incompetence.

>So, is 'ruining NU football' now considered an accomplishment? Is
this an objective opinion? I am interested to know why some folks on
this list jump at the chance to slip in snide remarks like this
everytime the AD's name comes up. Isn't the word 'accomplishment'
usually a positive connotation? I'm obviously no literary expert, but I
don't get the sarcasm here. It sounds like you may be implying that the
AD has ruined the football program, or more specifically, things have
been altered from where they used to be. Did you really think, when you
were a kid attending NU games (or watching them) that Nebraska would be
10-2 for the next 700 years? Or that the team would have the same 300
employees all still here into their 90's?
>
>I don't know the AD personally, in fact from every indication it
sounds like he is a real tool, but why is it that people can't get over
the changes being made in the football program? It reminds me of
children on the playground having temper tantrums because the bully
took their ball and jacks away from them. Find a new ball, get some new
jacks, and keep playing, or, lament the old ball and jacks that the
bully took and look like a fool well into adulthood. To me, the choice
is quite simple, and although things in Lincoln could clearly have gone
better in the last several years, how about focusing on the present and
future?

>If not, well I guess we can all recite "It just didn't have to
happen" over and over and click our heels together three times and
maybe we will all end up back in 1992 again.
