[Husker] Ranking the Coaches

First, Stoops and Brown at 1 & 2 are slam dunks. Both took mediocre programs to National titles and Brown took more time than Stoops. Done deal.

Next, Leach, Francione, Callahan and Gundy should be grouped in the next level. Leach gets my vote for #3 as he has only one losing conference season in seven years with three being 4-4 and 3 being better than .500. Callahan has a record of 1-1-1, but comes from a program that had played at a higher level than TT before the coaching change. Gundy went ibkt 3-5 last season but appears to be a team on the rise. Francione is solid in his coaching hsitory and shows the potential to perform at aTm. Conversely, Francione has more losing seasons than 4-4 or winning conference seasons.

Prince might fall in that group at 4-4 his first season (the best first season of the four listed in the second group). But it is early and he has other issues on the table.

Pinkel might be next but has never finished with a season conference winning record. It is hard to distinguish Mangino from Pinkel IMHO so he is also in the next group. Both have taken second tier programs to make them competitive, but not won a division title to date. Niether have won more conference games than they lost in any season.

Morris is making improvements in a terrible program, but too soon to rank above those listed.

Hawkins in last among active coaches as he performed under expectations. I can't imagine what was going through the minds of the writer to make him #7.

Chizik can't be ranked -- too early.

Whle there are two sides to every story, it is hard for me to see this any other way.
