[personal] [Husker] Ball Game

I was at the game and it was awesome! It was freaking cold (really just
because of a biting wind). The game was well played by the Huskers save
Charlie Shirek. He really looks like he's trying to short arm the ball and
it's getting up on him and he's getting shelled.

The Huskers committed three errors (two throwing by Wehrle, but his hand was
taped up like crazy because he cut it on a beautiful diving stop). Bowman
was decent in his start and Thad Weber deserves the MVP for coming in and
stopping the CU barrage dead in its tracks.

Edlefsen came in for the ninth with two on and no outs. After striking out
the first two, he walked a batter to load the bases (and I was thinking of
how this reminded me of last year's game). The batter hit a grounder
between 3rd and SS and Jake Mort make an amazing diving stop, jumped to his
feet and gunned the guy at first to end the game.

The game was certainly not without its unusual plays though. One of the
Husker hitters (Nimmo I think) actually did a 'stop-drop-and-roll' technique
to avoid the tag from the pitcher on the first baseline and reached safely
on a sac bunt. On another play, a Husker ran into the pitcher on a bunt
because he came across the basepath and was called out (I think the pitcher
held on to the ball, that's why, but at the time it looked like a bad call).

Start of the game was about 6.5k and by the final pitch there was MAYBE 1k.
No offense, but for this series, I LOVE TO SEE CU FANS LOSE!

That's what 4 in a row vs CU? GO BIG RED!

Quite a game in Omaha last night. NU get out to a 9-0 lead and has to
hold on for a 12-10 win. A friend of mine and I were going to go but
decided we didn't like the weather. So, we found a sports bar in Omaha
hoping maybe the game would be televised locally but it wasn't. My buddy is

a Twins fan and I am a Cardinals fan and they had both games on so we caught

the better part of those game. We listened to the last two inning of the
Husker game on the way home. I can't even imagine sitting out there. The
wind was brutally cold. The only thing too bad about the Husker win is it
wasn't a conference game.
