I have been to Arkansas several times. You can divide the state into
North of Little Rock and South of Little Rock. Those two areas are
different as day and night. Northern Arkansas is beautiful around Eureka
Springs and in that area. Fayetteville is right in that area. It is mostly
Ozarks and the like. I do like Northern Arkansas. Southern Arkansas is
something you can have. It is hot, humid, in some cases very backward, and
shades of the old South still exists and that is all I'll say about that.
With that said, I would think Altman would have scoped it out a little
more before he took the job. That, and how can you know that soon after
taking the job you didn't want it apart from something happening with your
health? I can see if you move somewhere and live there for six months to a
year you may discover things you don't like and want to move back to where
you were. But Altman was there what? 48 hours at the most and didn't live
there.
I an not criticizing him. You gotta do what you gotta do. But, some
things on the surface don't add up. The reasons almost have to be something
Altman doesn't want to make public. One would think you would have the
pulse of your family before you ever make a decision like that. I don't
know. Creighton will be glad to have him back but it will be different.
They now know if given the right offer he is gone. There had to be some
reason he thought he needed to leave Creighton in the first place.
