Hello Husker Fans,
A couple of tidbits to get you through the day as we ponder KU in
Lincoln.
ABOUT KU:
1) NU is an early 19.5 point favorite vs KU. NU has covered the
spread in all of it's games this year (Nicholls did not have a
spread that I'm aware of).
2) Sagarin has KU @ #63 and NU @ #22. By Sagarin's 'mathematical'
lines, NU should be around a 14.03-point favorite (NU: 81.8 + 3
point home field adv - KU 70.77)
3) KU's defense (albeit against lesser talent) has been pretty
vulnerable through the air. They've only surrendered 81.75 yards
per game on the ground while giving up 231.5 / game through the
air.
4) IMHO, their best player on offense is Jon Cornish @ IB. He
averages 5.3 yds/carry and 109 yards / game with 2 TDs. He torched
us last year and has been on a pretty good run ever since, (no pun
intended).
Summary: To me, I just can't help but compare their victories to
ours. Their 3 victories have been struggles against BAD
competition. (Northwestern State 49-18 #153 Sagarin,
Louisiana-Monroe 21-19 #151, South Florida 13-7 #71, and Toledo L
37-31 (2OT) #61). Not very good competition with poor results.
I can't see us losing this one at home. I just can't. Not with
the way we dismantled everyone but USC. This is probably the 2nd
best team we've played to date, but a VERY distant 2nd.
My guess: NU 35 - KU 7
BIG XII:
1) Missouri joins NU, Texas, OU, TT as ranked teams (in AP poll
anyway, TT ranked in coaches, not AP)
2) Baylor is favored by 3 at home vs KSU. Wow, not even sure what
to do with that. Have the Mildcats fallen that far? They looked
pretty hopeless (on offense, anyway) against Louisville on
Saturday.
3) Missouri is favored by 14 vs CU at home. When will the first CU
victory come? My guess is Oct 7 with Baylor @ CU, but is Baylor
better than Montana State? Tough to say...
4) Marlon Lucky was named Big XII player of the week:
