My initial post didn't mean to imply that Nebraska wasn't out to win the game. I was just stating some things that my brother in Omaha heard from the coaching staff after the game that I thought were interesting.
I too, felt that this was a winnable game. I don't know if Zac Taylor was out of his rhythm or hesitant. It looked to me that he was too hyped up. That pass that was dropped after the fake punt was drilled in there, as were other ones too. After watching a lot of quarterbacks, I've always taken drilling the ball (when touch is required) is a sign of a lot of adrenaline.
Nebraska did shut down the USC offense pretty well. Even the the ABC USC love fest didn't give Nebraska any credit. (It would be like calling Jacksonville's shut out of the Steelers a result of Pittsburgh being 'out of sorts'.) They are definitely beatable, I just don't see a Pac-10 team that will do it. I live in Chandler (just south of ASU in Tempe), and all the ASU grads think that ASU will beat USC. Personally, I don't.
I did mess up on the scoring. And another poster corrected me, thanks for that.
I really like this List that Mike has created, and get really disturbed when it gets personal. I really hope that Mike doesn't shut it down if things get out of hand.
Even though Troy played both Georgia Tech and FSU tough, I am still looking for the Huskers to beat them by at least 10 or 14. I know the spread is 21. But I just think that Troy is team that Nebraska should beat and beat handily. FSU is way over rated. And after the ND loss, Ga Tech may be as well.
Here's to paying to see the Troy game live (and watching the replay on FSN on Sunday!)!
