[Husker] Opposite posts

Funny you should mention the opposite posts. Myself, I feel like I saw
2 games, both from being at the game, then coming home to watch the
tape of it.

At the game, from my end zone seat, it felt like all we did was run run
run up the gut. 1st down run, 2nd down run. We'll establish it
eventually. heh. Rarely were there any wideouts, and it seemed like
there was too much respect given to SC by the conservative play
calling. USC showed confidence on offense, chose high percentage plays
that they then got good downfield blocking on. They knew where the
first down line was, and made the play to that point. Their size, speed
and athleticism showed.

On television, to me, USC appeared to have plenty of problems getting
in sync, but certainkly put together some solid yard chewing drives. At
one point, they were bad on 3rd down conversions, which I didn't catch
at the game. NU did have some good plays that gained some good yardage,
but a holding call, and some missed interception opportunities were
just bad luck. In games against teams like SC, you need luck, more
often than not.

In the end, we gave up 4 scores, one each quarter. That's not too bad
against a team the quality of USC. Too bad our offense was kept in
check by the play calling, but I have to respect if Bill wanted to
shorten the game by keeping the clock running.

I could be wrong,
joe
