I know there has been some criticism about posts
regarding former Husker coaches, but I just saw the
following story and thought it was interesting for
college football even without the Husker connection.

Northern Colorado's Mitch Cozad, a sophomore and
back-up punter, was arrested at 6 p.m. Tuesday
following allegations that he stabbed junior starting
punter Rafael Mendoza in his kicking leg.

Northern Colorado coach Scott Downing is unsure when
Mendoza will be able to return to the team, and has
suspended Cozad.  Cozad is currently being held and is
facing charges of 2nd degree assault.

Talk about competition...

Also at Northern Colorado, Andy Birkel will redshirt
this season after surgery on a knee injury.
