[Husker] eerie echos of the past

Air Force was the underdog. Perhaps they felt the odds of them making a 2 point conversion were better than beating Tennessee in OT. Akron made a similar decision down by 3 at the one yard line with 5 seconds left at NC State. They could've kicked a FG to send it to OT, but instead went for upset win and made it. I'm sure they felt they had a better chance on a single play than stopping NC State in OT AND scoring themselves from the 25.

One big difference is that NU couldn't go for a field goal and tie the game and hope to win in overtime while Air Force could have. This was pretty dumb if you ask me. Why not just tie the game, hope to get a turnover after the kickoff or win it in overtime. Even making the two with 1:35 left didnt seal a win for Air Force.

Quote below if from sports news:
=====================================
The Falcons (0-1) frustrated the Volunteers' defense with their tricky triple-option offense and staged a comeback in the final minutes to pull to within one on a touchdown with 1:35 remaining.
DeBerry chose to go for the lead instead of a tie.
Tennessee's Xavier Mitchell stuffed the late 2-point conversion try and preserved the 31-30 victory Saturday.

This sounded eerily familiar to me.
