[Husker] USC-Nebraska odds

Not hardly.  The oddsmakers want a line that will appeal to the most number of people for each game.  Had Nebraska played a conference team and won by even 10--14 points the line would be around 10 points with 3-3.5 points being for USC's homefield advantage.  Apparently there's a large group of wagerers who were impressed with USC going to Little Rock and winning.  Apparently those people feel that had NU went to Arkansas the margin of victory would be much smaller.  Oddsmaking is funny like that.

Let consider the odds-makers perspective. In their last five games after getting thrashed by Kansas, NU has

1). Barely beaten a feeble KSU squad
2). Beaten a CU squad which has -by the looks of it now- imploded.
3). Beaten Michigan- maybe the most overrated team in the Top 20 of both polls.
4). Beaten LA Tech- a team which isn't exactly a 1-A powerhouse
5). Beaten Nicholls State- enough said.

Now NU is going on the road to face a team that's won 46 of their last 48 games. USC is clearly the best team NU has faced since Miami after the '01 season. The oddsmakers will set the line so that it appeals evenly to wagers on both sides- with a little twist. From a national perspective USC may be a 3 TD favorite with the line lowered to entice more bettors.

I would look at Nu's record recently as road underdogs against ranked teams before I'd bet.

I don't bet, but I'm seriously considering changing that for this game if it stays near 20. No way does USC win this game by more than 10, if they even win it.
