It's likely to be a long season in Evanston. Rookie QB, rookie
head coach, tough conference schedule (the Big 10 teams they don't face
this year are Indiana and Minnesota.) But Fitz was my first choice,
and I think he'll be on the job in Evanston for a long time. He opened
the post-game locker room show apologizing for not having his team ready.
How many coaches own up to their losses?
New Hampshire's passing attack would give more than a few 1-A teams
trouble, that's why they're rated #2 in 1-AA. IMHO, they're a much better
team than Montana State.
Allowing 14 points off turnovers didn't help Northwestern's chances either.
It's going to be rocky in Boulder, too. 146 yards of total offense?
Gary Barnett has now left 2 programs in shambles when he departed.
Too bad about Buffalo's loss in OT. I hope the school gives Turner several
years to build something there. (Syracuse lost in OT to Iowa, maybe the
Orange is on the verge of rebounding?)
FSU is struggling against Troy, though I suspect not many people are
watching it, since OSU-Texas is also on. Texas doesn't look sharp yet.
The Husker's reality check in the LA Coliseum next week is getting plenty of
mention on ABC tonight. Any word on the early line? USC should be favored,
probably by 10 points or more.
