I have heard a lot of good things about Ganz from spring practice on;
his effort and intelligence especially. The WCO doesn't demand a
great physical specimen as much as a field marshall mentality, and he
may do well.

<<3) It was surprising to see most LA Tech passes directed toward
Grixby rather >than the new guy Andre Jones who appeared to hold his
own in limited action.

> This is my biggest worry about the team this year.

I was wondering if a lot of passes went Grixby's way because he was
covering the better receiver? And he had a cast on to protect a
broken thumb. There was a comment about pressure on the young
players. This game had to be serious learning experience for the
frosh DBs getting their first taste of the speed of the game and the
split-second decisions.

The secondary has to be a worry, and it may require Carriker, Turner,
Cryer, et al. raise their level of play in order to play in January.

Secondary prank: Tell an unsuspecting fan that the Titus Brothers are
the first ever Division I conjoined twins.

<<8) If the Huskers start with a typical lethargic stumbling offensive...

Whaaa? It was their first game! Has there been a year when a Husker
team came out in season opener in a gear higher than first? Maybe
against West Virginia in what was it, 95? But still.

Steve Sipple has already written off the USC game. Call me an
optimist, but I'd rather wait until game time to do that.
