[Husker] One of our own Lee Wilmart terribly injured

Hi All, I just got off the phone with Jeff, Lee's eldest son who lives in
Sweden who came in when Lee was injured.
It appears that he was either getting the train to stop or what? But the
handle of the brake came flying off and clubbed him on the left side of his
head above his left ear. There was bleeding on the brain and they had a
pressure monitor in his skull for this last week. I gather the accident
happened last week. They also put in a shunt to drain the excessive blood.
They have now removed the pressure monitor which I think is great news and
means they are not afraid of his brain swelling too much any longer.
He is on a respirator and I gather when they started to bring him out of
the coma the first thing he saw was Jeff and that kind of freaked him as he
knew him to be in Sweden. The part they are worried about the most now is
the lung situation. They have him on 70% oxygen saturation but want to get
him down to 30%. They are limiting visitors to immediate family. He has been
able to communicate like when the doctor asks him to blink twice he does
that but I gather him being rather feisty he has given various foot & hand
signals when he does not like what has been done <g>, so I think hopefully
that means that the old Lee is still there. Thank the Lord!
As I know more I will let you all know.

Pam, thank you for the information regarding Lee's terrible accident!
Lee really is a VERY NICE person. He took myself and my oldest son on the
train ride with him about three years ago. I REALLY enjoyed meeting him and
of course, I enjoyed the ride in the cab of the engine with him. We had
things set up to take my grandson last year, but we couldn't do it as the
Husker game was a late start.
We will keep him in our thoughts and prayers, and hope for a full recovery.
