If the team doesn't live up to outside expectatins, then it doesn't
really matter what goals they may come up with to define success.

This is debatable. It's very possible that Nebraska will finish with a
worse record than last year. That might not neccessarily mean we've
gotten worse, but I don't know that this team is all that much better
than last year. If they are, they have yet to prove it on the field.
Callahan's first season was so awful that there was nowhere to go but up.

Heck, even Texas struggled on the road. Missouri is big game, but Nebraska should prevail. Homecoming in Lincoln, after back to back loses. It should be a fun one. I have always believed that you can tell more about a team on how they react to a lose than you can to a win.

Nebraska *was* coming off a loss going into the Oklahoma State game.
They were also coming off a loss after the Texas Tech game in 2005 when
they went 1-3 over the next stretch of 4 games. In fact, if Nebraska
loses on Saturday, it would be the 3rd straight season in which Bill has
lost 3 consecutive games during some stretch.

With all due respect, you are way off-base with this paragraph. I am
sure the coaches do not feel that we played "hard the whole game" and
that there's "no shame" in how we played. This would be true of how
Nebraska played against Texas, but not last week. If the team has
nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to improve on from last week, then
I would not expect them to beat Missouri on Saturday. The team simply
played awful for most of the 2nd half. There are certain things that
simply can't be excused by simply saying "they wanted it more", such as
the 7 points OSU put up right before halftime.
