Subject: [Husker] Coverage Maps
Good Afternoon All:
Regarding the coverage maps, I do not believe that ABC has a Pac Ten game in the 2:30 CT time slot this weekend so because the Big Ten winner plays in the Rose Bowl the Pac Ten area will get the Big Ten game because it creates interest in who the Pac Ten representative plays in Pasadena.
As for why the Michigan State game showed up in Pam's area, my guess there is that the local ABC station carried ESPN+'s broadcast of the MSU game (in fact they had to because ABC was not carrying any other game on the main network besides Texas/Nebraska). Had your local station not covered the ABC broadcast then you would have gotten the NU/Texas game.
It's important to remember here that broadcast stations are licensed to serve the public interest, since you live in Michigan the local station decided to "cover" the network broadcast with a game of local interest. Additionally ABC isn't going to squawk too loudly because all of their games are now produced by ESPN anyway.
