Don't forget that NU's relative ranking is not dependant just on how 
NU fares but how the teams around them fare. Pollsters may actually 
think NU is a better team than they did last week, but that other 
teams around them have improved even more. 
 
Either way, polls suck.

      Yeah, those things can certainly enter in.   I could see a team moving but not four places.  I wouldn't think too many teams in the country could play Texas that close.  But, on the other hand it is not a shock either.  Polls have been doing that for years.  I remember one year NU was number one, Penn State was number two, and Michiggan three.  All three won and Michingan moved to number one followed by NU and then Penn State.  It is just the quirk of college football.  At least in the conference races style points aren't a qualification.
