[Husker] Bowden: Pass to Nunn was a mistake

Or, they could've punted to Texas and the special teams may have given up a 60 yard punt return and Texas could've scored anyway. Who knows...I'll take the expertise of the guys calling the plays over someone in a TV studio second-guessing a staff he wishes he were on! I'm sure there's a reason Bowden hasn't been hired for a head coaching job in the last several years when many became available, and I don't think it's his high quality studio analysis that's keeping him off the sidelines.

Even though it worked, except for a great hit that
forced the ball loose, Terry Bowden felt that throwing
the ball on 3rd down was the wrong call.

I agreed with Bowden on Saturday and still do. The
risks of throwing the pass (incomplete pass stopping
the clock or a higher chance of a turnover) in that
situation were too great. Even coming up short in
that situation, Nebraska would have punted the ball
and Texas would have gotten the ball with under 100
seconds, likely inside their own 20 yards, and no
timeouts to drive the field against the wind.
