It was a great game, but I disagree with some of the Listers and the ABC announcers on a few points.

First, while the defense played well in the red zone, they allowed Texas to march down the field to mid field on several occasions. Once the D forced a punt, the Husker offense was pinned inside the 10 most of the time. A similar thing happened when Nunn let that punt go. Texas was back against their own end zone, and march to about mid field when they had a crappy punt that took a huge Texas roll when Nunn didn't field it. If the defense had forced three and out during right away, Nebraska would have had great field position.

Texas won the field position battle for the second and most of the third quarters. Again, the defense allowed them to gain significant yardage, then the Texas punts pinned Nebraska deep in their own territory.

The interference call was terrible. The officiating this year hasn't been very good. If they had called impeding the receiver, then I could have accepted it. I've never understood calling it interference when the receiver runs into the defender. Nebraska got a no call in a similar situation a few games ago. There is too much inconsistency in the officiating this year for me. The roughing the passer call against Nebraska was bogus too. Then when Zac Taylor gets hit and laid on after the pass, a no call. What a crock!

Someone pointed out that blitzing worked and when Nebraska didn't blitz Texas could move the ball. This has been the MO all season long. Nebraska needs to be more aggressive on defense. Yes, you'll give a big play or two, but all the quarterbacks Nebraska has played against don't do well under pressure.

The hit on Nunn while not looking too vicious was well placed. The Texas defender put his hat right on Nunn's arm. The ball was tucked away pretty well. It was an awesome call. I don't know if they tell the kids to 'just get the first down'. But I don't fault Nunn for playing. Both Swift and Purify had critical drops, but were able to redeem themselves because they happened early in the game.

How Nebraska bounces back will tell a lot about this team. So far, they have showed tenacity that Nebraska hasn't had for a while. These guys are hungry and keep playing. I am exited for the Oklahoma State game. Nebraska can't look past them to Missouri.

I'm glad that the rest of the games are televised!

Go Big Red!
