This game will be won by the team that minimizes mistakes and makes plays on
both offense and defense. (Really Omar? Gosh darn it, your a genius!) but
seriously though...
whether you are running the Option or the West Coast offense, or the
Wish-bone, it comes down to just these two things: minimizing mistakes and
making plays.
if nebraska starts to struggle by not being able to run the ball
effectively, or by not making 3rd down conversions, or by not stretching
the field with successful long passes, or by not having an effective special
teams effort, or by fumbling the ball at critical points in the game...we
will almost always lose against a Top 10 team.
The past 3 weeks have shown that Nebraska can withstand some shaky play, but
as long as they make the few big plays, either offensively or on defense,
good things can happen.
Statistically, it's pretty clear the offense is doing well (check the
national rankings). The concern is over how the defense will respond to
Texas' athleticism. Not sure about you, but I think the jury is still out on
this defense. The play of the cornerbacks will be crucial. I personally
think Grixby is not a very good CB, but with the injuries to this position
and its youth, he's really all we have. In this case I would go with
experience than young talent. Thenarse could be a difference maker though
particularly in the dime package.
with that said, i want the huskers to win soooo bad. this is the type of
game we have been waiting for. I'm getting antsy and my heart pounds just
thinking about it!!
I'm sick of the disappointments. I'm tired of all the heartache, the
embarassment at the hands of lesser programs we use to annihilate. i want to
get that feeling again. i'm sick and tired of the Huskers being ignored on
the national stage.
It's time to restore the order. That time is now.
Omar
