Someone brought up a question earlier about the play of our DE and front 7 in general. I missed out on all the preseason list chatter, but everything I read touted the DE's as two of the best in the country. I'm not a defensive guru, but the entire d-line reminds me of a lot of teams from earlier this century who were always "close" or "pressured" the QB. I missed the first few games, but from what I was able to read, it doesn't seem that we're terrorizing anyone with our rush.

I kind of expected to see Carriker crushing people. Has the defensive scheme changed to slow down the rush and play more containment? Just seems like a lot of the "problems" with the secondary would be cured with a better rush.

Just kind of curious what everyone thinks.

As to the "GROC," I love watching the Huskers in the WCO. While I hate when Callahan goes conservative, it's actually fun to watch. I think Callahan called a crappy game at USC, but then I think he was scared to open it up and run the risk of turnovers (I think that was more fear of USC's def than lack of confidence in Taylor, etc). Not sure even Dr. Tom and company would have done a whole lot better.

It's only an opinion, but Solich just looked lost and I never felt confident going into tough games with him. I think things are on track and pretty much where I expected to be.

 Take care

 Terry
