1. If a win can be termed "disappointing," the Kansas win would
probably fall into that category for most fans, myself included.

2. With the exception of Ahman Green's long TD sprint on the opening
play of the 1995 Colorado game in Boulder, it seems that on the rare
occasions when the Huskers open with an EASY score (1996 vs TTech,
for instance), they lose focus and don't play well the rest of the
game.

3. Mangino's Kansas is not your grandfather's Kansas and won't be for
as long as he remains head coach. His teams are only going to get
better, so Husker fans can flush future "easy" expectations.

4. Zac Taylor had his least effective passing game of the season, the
reasons for which we can only spelculate. At least one factor was
that the KU left rush end practically earned a place in the Husker
backfield. Had Zac played his "average" game, things might have been
dramatically different.

5. When NU without Mann faces a good defensive line per USC and
Kansas, he becomes outstanding by his absence. His position wasn't
named "center" by accident.

6. It seems clear that the Husker offensive and defensive game plans
are being carefully modeled to each opposing team's strengths and
weaknesses. As a result, we fans don't see the "set" style of play
from game to game that we became accustomed to under TO and Frank. In
other words, each week we see a different facet of this year's squad.
This group has yet to play a "typical" game, so we fans remain at a
loss in trying to figure out what sort of Huskers those guys in red
jerseys really are.
