I haven't gotten through all the posts yet, but did see that Nebraska dropped a slot in each poll. Oh well, no respect!
All the talk about the defense and the stats make me say that the short fields and early scores put the Nebraska defense behind the eight ball. KU ran 94 offensive plays to Nebraska's 65. It looked like Coach Cosgrove had them in a base defense for most of the game.
Either Coach Cosgrove doesn't want to tip his hand, or he still is not comfortable with the players he has. A co-worker (Badger Alumn) stated that Coach Cosgrove is good when he has the players for his defense. However, the Nebraska defense made the plays they needed, particularly in over time.
It was interesting to me to see the passing versus running yardage. In the Nebraska of old they would have been swapped.
And most people seem to forget that Kansas has played Nebraska tough in the past. I remember back in the early nineties that KU almost upset the Huskers. Coach Mangino has turned that program around (which is good for the Big-XII).
While I thought that Nebraska would win big, and it looked that way early in the game. This was a good test for Nebraska. They could have given up after being up so much and then getting behind. Instead, they kept at it and prevailed in the end.
It was an excited game (although I don't know if my heart can take many, many more of them!).
On to the Cyclones!
Go Big Red!
