Ditto.  However, in this respect I think Callahan may just be reflective
of the in-your-face attitude that is all too prevalent in sports 
(heck, in life) these days.

During the Devaney/Osborne era, the rivalry was kept relatively friendly,
though I had a few relatives in Nebraska and in Oklahoma who wouldn't 
speak to each other for a week or two after the NU-OU game each year, 
including during the car ride back from the stadium.  :-)
