First, as a part of being a school that is transitioning from D2 to
D1-AA the North Dakota State BISON are not eligible according to NCAA
Regulations for teams in transition for the D1-AA Playoffs until the
2008 season. A D2 to D1-AA team has a 5 year transition period before
they can compete in the 1-AA Playoffs. They can however compete in the
D2 playoffs that first transition year, which makes the D1-AA transition
4 years. Coach Bohl has done a tremendous job at NSDU and living in the
Twin Cities both he and his program have gotten a fair amount of very
positive publicity.

Second, congrats to Coach Solich for being the MAC Coach of the Year.
Turning around any school in the short amount of time and dramatic way
Coach Solich has, be it in the MAC or not, is certainly an impressive
accomplishment. I am further impressed by the fact that rather than sulk
like those on the list still love to do about his dismissal at Nebraska,
that Coach Solich made the effort to improve as a coach by learning new
offensive and defensive schemes from some of the best in the business. I
truly and sincerely am happy for him and his accomplishment and wish him
the best of luck in the MAC Championship Game.

I do scratch my head that Solich winning the MAC Coach of the Year Award
on a list that is supposed to be primarily centered around Nebraska
athletics has generated about 50% more list traffic than Nebraska
actually being in the Big XII Conference Championship against their
longtime (real) rival Oklahoma has. Or that Taylor was the Big XII
Offensive Player of the Year!!!!

Which leads me to a question - Will the large number of the Solich
apologists on the list give Coach Callahan or Steve Pedersen ANY credit
should they actual win OUR Championship Game and go to the Fiesta Bowl?

As a college football fan I will watch the MAC Championship Game...as a
Husker fan I will be attending the Big XII Championship Game.

Go Big RED...Beat OU!
