[Husker] Solich Named MAC COY

Perhaps I should've expressed my exact thoughts in writing a little better in my original post...it seems like we are reminded of Solich's doings much more so than any other former staff member because people still feel the guy got shafted in Lincoln. And, I'm not on one side of the fence or the other, frankly (no pun intended) the whole purpose of the post was to point out what I feel is a disparity in the 'where are they now' posts because of listers' hatred for the AD at Nebraska.

How is Scott Frost doing at KSU?
Has anyone talked about Monte Kiffin at Tampa Bay lately?
What about Cotton at Iowa State?

I am nowhere near an expert on rattling off a bunch of names of former players/coaches at Nebraska, but heck even my 70 year old female neighbor has heard of Turner Gill & Tommie Frazier. And I don't know squat about Ohio, all I can say is remember Solich did pretty well in his second season at Nebraska too, but look what ended up happening once Osborne's recruits were out.

I could be WAY off base here, but it seems like a lot of people close to the whole Solich 'shaft job' (fans) feel like people need to either be for him or against him. I personally am neither, but whenever I read about him on this list I always question the intent of the post. I guess I'm just very cynical. From now on I will simply delete posts that I don't want to read, I seem to have a problem remembering I have that ability! And by the way, coaching ability aside I would never defend Callahan's character, in fact I have serious doubts about it, but he is the coach of my favorite team so I put up with it.

I think your just being obtuse. There's a reason we hear about Solich. 1. He won coach of the year and has seemingly turned around a pretty bad program (you never know though). 2. He left NU under controversy.

But I would also say you are just plainly wrong -- we frequently hear about coaches that were on staff previously (and besides there's a difference -- he was the head coach). I don't know what they are all doing -- but two I do follow are Turner Gill (didn't go too well -- no need to mention that) and Tommy Frazier (who of course didn't really coach for the Huskers and is having a pretty rough time from what I hear as well). Pellini we all know about because of where he's at (although I was never on his bandwagon). And to be honest -- I don't know where everyone else went. I heard about Bohl shortly after he left (div ii school right NDS?), but I'm not aware of any others that are head coaches at Div I schools. Are there others? And although I don't follow basketball as much -- I recall hearing about Danny Nee (now at Duquesne). The difference with Bohl and Nee of course being -- I don't think too many people were disappointed to see them go. I know there was a lot of!
talk about Kevin Steele when he was first at Baylor and then Tony Samuels at New Mexico....

I'd be happy to read your post if you wanted to tell me about others. I'm interested. One of the great things about Iowa during the Frye years -- is how many head coaches they produced (I'm sure you've seen them go on and on about that on ABC). Lighten up. We like Callahan. We want Nebraska to win.

Good for Coach Solich and his players. It's interesting to me however that we hear so much about him on this list and not so much about the dozens of other coaches who spent time with the Huskers at some point in time and how they are all doing wherever they may now be.
