Our favorite hard-drinkin' but thankfully not-drivin' ABC -- uh, ESPN-on-ABC
-- commentator let loose with the following spontaneous verbal ejaculation
last night, right after USC went up 37-17 on Notre Dame:
"Right now, it looks like the road to Glendale [site of the Fiesta Bowl and
the national championship game a week later] is paved with Trojans!"
My wife looked at me in disbelief and we both proceeded to burst out
laughing. (I've heard of the rubber pellets used in FieldTurf and rubber
sidewalks in Washington, DC, but both are products of recycled tires --
didn't know other products were being recycled also ... 8^)
The other idiotic topic last night among Musberger, Bob Davie, and Kirk
Herbstreit was the thought that USC got ahead "too quickly" by scoring on
their first three possessions. I'm certain that no coach in the world would
tell his team *not* to score just to avoid getting ahead "too quickly".
Guess the TV guys have to say something to fill the time.

You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do
your homework, and
you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get
stuck in Iraq. - John Kerry
