[Husker] Dare to Dream

Keep in mind that selection does not have so much to do with conference
rankings. It has more to do with filling seats. It truly is the 'choice'
of the respective Bowl Committee.

BOWL SELECTION ORDER

Again this season, the Big 12 has eight bowl slots guaranteed. The
Conference is partnered with nine bowls. However the arrangement with the
Gator Bowl is for it to select a Big 12 team twice over a four-year period.
In the two years in which the Gator does not select a Big 12 team, the Sun
Bowl will. (Not sure when this deal was inked, however, no Big XII team has
been selected since the Conference re-alignment.)

Following is the selection order following 2006 season:

1 - BCS (Glendale, AZ);
(Big XII Champion gains automatic berth. If not in BCS championship Game,
ABC, 08JAN; then Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, FOX, 01JAN07)

2 - Cotton (Dallas, TX);
FOX, 01JAN vs SEC foe.

3 - Holiday (San Diego);
ESPN, 28DEC vs PAC 10 foe.

4 - Gator (Jacksonville)(when it selects a Big 12 team);
CBS, 01JAN vs ACC foe.

5 - Alamo (San Antonio);
ESPN, 30DEC vs Big Ten foe.

6 - Sun (El Paso, TX)(when the Gator does not take a Big 12 team);
CBS, 29DEC vs PAC 10 foe.

7 - Insight (Tempe, AZ);
NFL, 29DEC vs Big Ten foe.

8 - Independence (Shreveport);
ESPN, 28DEC vs SEC foe.

9 - Texas (Houston);
NFL, 28DEC vs Big East or C-USA foe.

Either way, I'll be in KC next weekend AND I'll be wherever the team spends
its post-Christmas bonus game.

Cheers,
Steve

It is up to the Bowl to decide who they would invite. Cotton has 1st
choice after BCS and would normally take OU. However OU has been to
that game for a couple years in a row (if I recall correctly) and
neither side may not be thrilled to have OU there again. It is quite
possible that Cotton Bow could bypass OU and invite NU.
