The discussion concerning a rematch of OSU and Mich calls up bad memories for myself and some Husker fans I am sure after the 78 season when the Orange Bowl picked Oklahoma as NU's opponent.
I to this day remember vividly the television tape of Osborne and Devaney sitting in an office around a speaker phone when the opponent was announced. The blank reaction on both of their faces was something that I will never forget.
Yes, this is a bit of a different situation in that NU had upset the Sooners in the regular season. Still, it was a sour pill to swallow, as most felt that the Sooners held a significant edge in talent that year and as most predicted, OU had a fairly easy time of it in the Bowl game.
I have heard some of the "conspiracy theorists" state that they hope the BCS does get OSU and Mich together for a rematch, believing that there will be a significant enough of an outcry to finally get a true playoff system in place. I believe that has a way to go because of the huge amounts of money involved in the current bowl system.
