[personal] [Husker] Question

Hello Husker Fans,

Ya, this did happen. I didn't think the ref could prevent NU from
snapping if the play clock is running, that sounds a little silly to
me. However, sure enough, there he was standing over the ball. He
didn't leave until there was like :15 or so left. A lot of us kept
yelling to snap the ball and run! Why not!

RL> I haven't read all posts since yesterday's game. So, if I missed what I am
RL> about to ask, I apologize...

RL> In the 4th qtr. yesterday, NU was lined up to punt. The play clock showed
RL> 17sec. and was running. The ref stood over the ball and permitted MU to
RL> come from the sideline and line up.

RL> QUESTION: Why, with the play clock (25 second clock) running, couldn't NU
RL> snap the ball and punt it even if MU hadn't lined up?

RL> Thank you,
RL> Roger Lohr-Mpls
