This was done to generate data for a paper I was writing in a graduate
course on statistical methodology and hypothesis testing.
I had five sets of trials of 200 flips for 10 different coins, and
there was a small but discernable difference in trials between the two
types of coins, enough to suggest that there was a SLIGHT bias, presumably
due to the change in material. (All 5 coins in each set were minted
the same year and at the same mint, as I recall.)
Sometimes I wonder when they create those special coins for the coin toss
in football games if there is a slight bias in those coins. (There,
now we have some sports relevance!)
