Hello Husker Fans,

In the first game of the three game series, NU lost to OU 3-2 at
home. NU went up early 2-0, but a rocky inning from Joba puts OU
  right back into the game.

Joba pitched pretty well thru 5, if only the game ended then. In the
sixth, back to back to back singles brought OU within 1. Then, with
runners on the corners, a ground out scores 1 to tie the inning.
After Joba walked a second runner on, Erik Bird came in allowed a
infield single to load the bases, and then got a double play to end
  the inning.

In the bottom half, Opitz singled with 1 out, but was doubled up on
a bonehead play when Christy popped out to third and for some
  unknown reason, Opitz took off.

OU took the lead for good in the 8th on a Sac Fly with 1 out scored
  the go ahead run.

From the plate, Christy continued to break out of his horrendous
slump (he was 3 of 4 against CU and 2 for 4 today) while Nimmo sank
farther into his with an 0 for 5 effort. Brown is still hitting
well, going 2 for 4 tonight and Jaros went 3 for 4 in a good day
since coming back from wrists injuries.

Again, we left people in scoring position 5 out of the 9 innings.
The worst offenses were in the 4th when we had bases loaded with 1
out and in the Ninth with runners on 1st and second with 1 out. In
the 4th, we scored 1 off of a single to left, but Christy was thrown
out at home (why Anderson sent him, I'm not sure, maybe he didn't
realize that Christy takes hours to run 60 feet). In the ninth,
Nimmo popped up on the infield and Wehrle grounded out to the
pitcher to end the threat. Even Tuesday when we won, we needed 12
hits to score 4 leaving 10 on base.

The issue here is that some players just aren't hitting and it seems
like they are up when we really need them. Nimmo, Wehrle, Buckman,
  and Gorsett went a combined 1 for 16 (hitters 2, 3, 4, 5). That's
just not the production you expect from the heart of your lineup.

If I were Anderson at this point, I'd completely shuffle the
lineup. (I'm not Anderson for the record and I'm not saying I know
  better than him.)

  My lineup would be:

  1. Jaros CF
  2. Opitz 2B
  3. Brown LF
  4. Gerch DH
  5. Buckman 1B
  6. Gorsett RF
  7. Wehrle SS
  8. Christy C
  9. Mort 3B (Maybe Edlefsen)

Sometimes putting your main hitters at the bottom of the lineup can
put a spark under their ___________, I think at this point we need
something... Anything.. We MUST win tomorrow or we will drop to
4th seed in the Big XII tournament. Not to mention kissing our
national seed goodbye (it's a stretch right now anyway).

This team has the talent. The capabilities to win. We just need to
find SOMETHING, ANYTHING to get us out of it. You never know what
  that might be.
