[personal] [Husker] Husker win

Hello Husker Fans,

I would also like to add a few things:

1) There was a real momentum shift in the middle innings that made you
wonder if they were going to let OSU rally for a win (again). In the
7th Brett Jensen came in with 1 out and bases loaded. The first
batter struck out and the second flew out deep center. A BIG stop for
NU.

2) Gorsett's homer was his first since April 9th. An unbelievable
drought considering how he started. He was hitting really well, even
had an 18-game hitting streak in there. But he just wasn't hitting
the longball. (This one, btw was called fair and not reversed)

3) Gerch has been absolutely pounding the ball lately. He looked
great swinging the bat at the end of last year, so I wondered how much
better he would be this year. After a rough start (and some personal
issues) he seems to be back on track and better than before. Even
when he's getting out, he's hitting the ball hard.

4) Andrew Brown is another one of those guys we wish we could put in
the lineup every day. He's batting around .500 in his last 20 at bats
with a couple homeruns. Only problem is, there's not really anywhere
to put him!

5) Big props to OSU's left fielder Tyler Wright. He has got
absolutely BLAZING speed and made 3 web gem catches this series. If
it's hit anywhere near him he's probably going to get it.

6) Also, give a little credit to OSUs bats. They came into this
series with the best average in the Big XII (and the most runs) and
didn't back down from Husker pitchers, who happen to have the best ERA
in the Big XII.

7) NU actually outhit OSU for the series. They also committed less
errors, hit more home runs, and pretty much played better in every
aspect except the score. 2 problems I point to, 1) especially in the
first two games we had multiple situations where we couldn't push a
run across when we had the chance. 2) Almost all (I think all but 2)
of NUs homers were solo shots and it seemed almost all of OSUs were
with runners on.

The Huskers are back in action on Wednesday 6:35pm at Hawks field
against Northern Iowa. They then travel to Waco to take on the Baylor
Bears. The series starts Friday at 7:00pm then Sat @ 7:00pm and
finally Sun 2:00pm.

TS> The Huskers defeat OSU 10-6 tonight. OSU hit one homer while NU
TS> had dingers from Wehrle, Brown, Gorsett, and Gerch. Dorn pitched
TS> pretty good going 5 2/3 and giving up 3 runs. Jensen gave up 3
TS> runs in 2 2/3 innings, including a 3 run homer to Corey Brown in
TS> the 8th. It is good to have Gerch back in the line-up. The
TS> difference tonight, NU capitalized late in the game with runners
TS> in scoring position.
