Hello Husker Fans,

Today was the first time my 6 year old daughter and I had ever
watched a game at Haymarket Park, and I must say, it was amazing.
The park is gorgeous, it's clearly designed for a family to enjoy,
and there isn't really a bad seat in the house.

We sat out in the 3rd baseline berms right in the sun so it didn't
feel as cold. The crowd was active (even though it was only 1700 or
so) and the park really gets you close to the action. You really
feel like your apart of the game.

There's a darn near full service grill, Valentino's Pizza, indoor
souvenir shop and a fenced in shaded playground in right field. I
spent about 2 innings out there, giving my daughter a chance to
  play.

My daughter had a blast. It was her second baseball game (we went
to the CWS last year) and this time I taught her how to keep score.
She decided Luke Gorsett was her favorite player and that Nick
Sullivan kind of looked like Chandler from "Friends" in the Media
guide. She even got a ball-boy to give her a foul ball he'd chased
  down.

After the game we waited for all the players to sign autographs on
both the media guide and the baseball and they were all very polite
and thanked us for coming out to the game. I told all the freshman
and JUCO transfers we were glad they chose NU and wished Joba a
speedy recovery or good time off. Jensen joked about the lack of
work he's getting lately, but said it was a good thing. Jeff
Lanning caught the entire first game and I asked him how he liked
starting and he replied, "They even let me stay in the whole game!".
I replied that it's probably hard to steal a game from Christy. I
also got a chance to tell Steve Edelfsen to hang in there and he'll
find a regular spot in the lineup sooner or later.

Overall it was a great experience and I recommend that everyone find
some time this year to catch a game. This is a special team, and
surprisingly young team. It's a pretty cheap game to see, just $7
for adults (until Big XII season starts it goes up $2), Free for
  children 6 and under.

  I will definitely go back.
