Hello Husker Fans,

Nebraska wins the first of a two game set with Illinois St, NU used
the bats to win. Brandon Buckman went deep twice in a game for the
second time this season. Wherle hit his second homer of the year on
  a 2 hit day.

It wasn't the prettiest win ever, but it's still a W. The Matt Foust
started the game, he's really their 5th starter and we'll see him
mostly mid-week and some relief action. He started well, but in the
2nd inning he walked three in a row and hit the fourth for Ill St's
first run, so he was pulled for Zach Herr who then walked 1 more
  before closing out the inning.

It was back and forth from there, with the Huskers up 1 or 2 until
the 5th when Ill St took a 6-4 lead off Herr and Luke Wertz. Wertz
ended up with the win, pitching 2.2 innings allowing 3 hits and 1
  run.

NU came back with homers in the 5th (Buckman) and 6th (Wherle) and
pulled ahead with a homer in the 7th (Buckman). Nimmo and Jaros
gave NU a cusion with RBI singles later in the 7th.

Christy added one in the eighth with a sac fly to center scoring
  Gerch.

The Huskers play again today at the same time, 1:05. They will send
redshirt freshman Tim Radmacher to the hill for the first time.
