Hello Husker Fans,

The Huskers swept Bama today with a 6-2 'unconventional win'. They
scored 6 runs on only 4 hits, 2 of which were walked in to break a
  2-2 tie in the 8th.

Shirek started, going 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run.
Cranston came in for 2 innings, surrendered an unearned run,
breaking a streak of surrendering just 1 run a game for 5 straight
  games.

Possibly the most significant thing about this sweep was that it was
without our superstud ace Joba Chamberlain. Running with our 2,3,
and 4 starters we held a top 25 team to 1,1, and 2 runs.

From an offensive performance it wasn't really that stellar except
for a few situations where we held off on some tasty pitches to draw
the walk. The most encouraging thing on the offensive side was
Nimmo and Wherle. Nimmo has been doing a VERY good job of setting
the table for the heart of the lineup. Wherle hit a pretty good 1-1
pitch into right for a 2-RBI double in the sixth to make it 2-1.

Great series for the Huskers, I think we'll look back on this as a
bigger series win that we do now. They seem like a team that's
going to get better as the year goes on. They have solid pitching
and a decent lineup that should take them quite a ways.
