I have been a Nebraska BB fan for over fifty years watching mediocre or
worst BB and I will probably go to my grave with nothing changing because
of attitudes like this. I'm sure glad Bob Devaney, Dave Van Horn, Terry
Petite, Gary Pepin, etc did not have this attitude or else the whole
Nebraska athletic program would really be in the dumper. Even women's
coach Connie Yori is trying to claw her way up the ladder in the Big 12,
considered the second or third most difficult conference in the nation.
Her first year at Nebraska she had to play sorority girls and volleyball
players to have a team. But she is steadily improving every year and would
have had a better year this year if the injury bug hadn't hit so hard.

What can be done? First and foremost a dedicated practice facility is
needed. Nebraska is the only Big 12 site that doesn't have a dedicated
practice facility. I am on the board of directors for the Fastbreakers,
the women's booster group, and the practice schedules for the women's team
is ridiculous. Practice at 6 AM one day, 7 PM the next day and then be
shuttled off to Mabel Lee the third day. It's really hard for the players
to get into any kind of go to class, study & practice routine with a
schedule like this.

Just my .02 worth.
