Sure, Pat, but this was the kid's first start, give him a break. You'd
want that victory if you were on the mound. I am sure Billy Beane
echoes your statements, and hey, the A's are in 1st place.

Fox Sports Bay Area had many shots of the Komine family and friends,
played the Hawaiian Five-O theme at one point in a recap of his
highlights, and also recapped his Husker career stats. A 'Nebraskans
for Komine/Hawaiian PunchOut' sign was shown. My brother even made the
trip from LNK to Oakland.

Funny thing, Shane's first pitch was a called strike - he then asked
for the ball to be retired. On the next pitch, Reed Johnson deposited
the no-so curveball just over the left field fence near the foul pole.

Shane had, I believe, 9 ground outs and a pair of weak foul outs, and
got a bear hug from Jay Payton following a sixth inning that he escaped
following men on 1st and 2nd with one out situation.

Stats show Shane threw 99 pitches, 53 in the strike zone.

fyi. former Husker Dan Johnson had been sent down by Oakland a few
weeks back, and has been tearing up AAA pitching - 27-60 (.450) with 6
HR - 25 RBI and .833 slugging pct. There's just no place for him right
now with the A's. Macha said he could be traded, but hopes "when he
gets the call, he'll re-establish himself" says MLB.com
