Huggins has heart problems, which would not get any better coaching the Huskers.
We don't need "This cardiac arrest brought to you by Fontenelle Hybrids."
Lavin? Egad. His hair alone would turn off boosters.
We need someone with a strong work ethic, overachieving personality, who can
connect with student athletes, and a deep-rooted tie to Nebraska sports. Yes,
we need Frank Solich. It appears that he knows as much about putting a
well-skilled team on the court as Collier, and there would be no pressure to
move to a passing offense--basketball is all option. Furthermore, all
basketball coaches really need to do during a game is pose for the camera like
it's the final scene of a feature film (in some broadcasts it seems you see as
much coach as game).
And let's remember, basketball success really doesn't matter that much here, and
Frank's popularity alone would bouy fund raising. He's had a DUI, which
connects, albeit weakly, to the movie "Hoosiers", and he's not very tall, like
Coach K and Dean Smith. And, he's had more wins in Boulder than Collier. I
despair, however, that he'd probably rather stay in football.
