One possible reason, donations are tax deductible. So if I pay $250 for
season tickets and $250 in a donation, I get $ 50-100 off my taxes

Please help me with the semantics of the donation
process and how it relates to season tickets.
Example: The university requires a $250 donation to
buy season tickets in a certain part of the stadium.
Lets just say the tickets are $40 each. For a 6 game
schedule a season ticket would cost you $490. Each
ticket under this scenerio costs $81.66.
I guess my question is why don't they just say the
season ticket costs $490, or say that each game ticket
is $81.66? What is significant about splitting up the
cost of the ticket and the amount of the donation?
Remember.. There is no such thing as a dumb question.
