I watched the game also and I got the impression both teams took a page from
the Husker book of listless book of basketball.

It is great to be 2-0 in Big Twelve but the Huskers need to step it up a
notch or maybe 3.

Good analysis. I saw much of the game, and it was like KSU took a page from
the
Husker book of listless basketball. But It also looked like KSU was
undersized
and NU got physical, particularly Maric, who seemed to dwarf the KSU
frontcourt. Maric also shows that from the high post he has great vision
and
can dish the ball to cutters in traffic--Dourisseau blew a great pass in the
first half missing a lay-in.

One key stat in the last two games: TOs. NU had only 9 beating OU, and were
even with KSU at 14. If they can keep the TOs down around 10 they'll be
much
more competetive in B12 play. If they play like the last two games they'll
be
competetive in every B12 game.

The move by Collier to allow Maric to spend xmas downunder appears to have
helped. He also has gotten the players to take pride in their team and
raise
their level of effort and intensity. We could probably cool the talk about
when we should decide to fire him, at least for a while.

I saw this AM that McCray had a slight concussion after the tumbling drive
early
in the second half. He appears to have improved over the first month of the
season, though I hope he doesn't decide that he's going to make every
floating
20-footer from the top of the key after the game winner against OU. He's
got
some physical size, and they are going to need that banging around in the
paint
against the likes of OSU, KU, CU. The Huskers should beat ISU at Devaney.

Believe it or not, Nebraska improved to 12 and 3 on the season and 2 and 0
in conference play with a 57-42 win over Kansas State tonight in Manhattan.
Nebraska led by as much as 23 (I believe it was 23) in the second half.

Cornhuskers played very well at the start of each half. Got off to a 13-2
start and then ripped off a big run at the start of half number two. I
thought NU was o.k.-to-good tonight. KSU was horrible. NU's defense had
to
contribute to their woes ... but they started taking bad, forced shots
right
out-of-the-chute.

I hope this signifies the permanent return of 6-foot-11 sophomore center
Aleks Maric. 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds to lead the way. Joe
McCray took a nasty spill early in the 2nd half ... seemed to land hard on
his
tail bone while goin' to the hole. Returned (slowly) to the bench for the
last
10 minutes of the game after returning from the locker room.

Joe has some time to rest and heal up. He too, like Aleks, may slowly be
"rounding" into form (sorry). No game this weekend. Huskers and their 2
and 0
Big XII mark will take on Iowa State at the Devaney Center at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, January 17.

It's early. NU is 2 and 0. Mizzou is 2 and 0. Oklahoma is 0 and 2. But
no talk about NU being the worst 12 and 3 team in the country. This was a
huge win for Nebraska basketball.

There is no such thing as an ugly conference road win.
