Jeff - Thank you, I agree. I too don't like the way we saw the firing and coach search transpire. I do believe, there is much more to it than we all know, just like in all business, there are laws and reasons not to make everything public, so we probably don't know all the story. I do believe Pederson has the best interest of NU at heart and is not doing the horrible job alot of people think. I do know people who have donated more these past few years than they did before in support of what he is doing!

Where do you get these figures that you throw around so frequently and liberally
in your constant denouncement of Steve Pederson?
The 2004-05 Nebraska Athletic Department Annual Report lists $21.5 million in
donations to the Husker Nation Championship Drive with $6 million of that coming
from the 2 sources that you already identified. That is quadruple the amount
that you are "estimating" and doesn't include any donations since the 2005-06
fiscal year that started in July.
And while on the subject of donations, corporate sponsorships for Husker
Athletics have more than doubled since 2003 and are estimated to be at around $6
million + for the budget year 2005-06.
While Steve Pederson heads the Athletic Department, do you even know who is in
charge of Athletic Development or Corporate Sponsorships? Paul Meyers, former
Husker & SF Giant baseball player, actually heads the Championship Drive and is
incredibly well liked and respected, at least amongst the donors that I know.
Conversely, former Nike executive Paul Miles heads up Corporate Development and
is again very well liked a respected, again at least amongst the individuals
that I know that have had dealings with him.
Anyone who has read your blog (as I often do for amusement) and your rants on
this list about SP and BC and the "kool aid drinkers" knows of your hatred for
these individuals...but in your rush to admonish them at least do a little fact
checking along the way...or provide the proof that they are lying in documents
that are submitted to the NCAA.
Have a great day.
Jeff
