Good Morning All:
As Roger pointed out this morning on "WCCO's Morning News w/Dave Lee" there was a discussion on one of the sports segments about Bill Callahan's name surfacing in the Vikings coaching search. The person speculating on this was Mike Max the afternoon Sportstalk host on WCCO in Minneapolis.
While I do not want to see him gone I actually think this might be a pretty good position for Callahan to make a comeback in the NFL. The Vikings talent level has improved under Mike Tice markedly since 2001. Without Al Davis to micromanage every move, Callahan might do OK, plus the media in Minneapolis/St. Paul is nothing like the media in the San Francisco Bay area.
As for KLIN, rumor is out that KLIN (or the owners of KLIN) might be considering dropping the Pinnacle Network when their (KLIN's) contract runs out sometime this year. If this happens it might be interesting to see who lines up in Lincoln to carry the Husker broadcasts. It's a well known fact that KFAB covers Lincoln signal wise as well as or better than the local Lincoln stations do day or night.
One has to wonder if perhaps Clear Channel (owner of KFAB and several FM's in Omaha and Lincoln) might just up for the rights on one of their FM stations in Lincoln and then have KFAB carry Sports Nightly, Football, Men's & Women's Basketball, Volleyball and Baseball. Then have their FM in Omaha (KHUS) that currently carries the Husker football games continue to do so and then add one of their FM's in Lincoln carry football only.
This arrangement would allow for them to package certain media buys on all three stations, and the entire broadcast (insertion of commercials etc) could then be controlled from KFAB in Omaha.
