Collier stays, Collier goes. I don't care. What I do
care about is how anywone can think in the remotest
sense that this is "a program with a winning if not an
impressive season." Winning record? Maybe, Barely.
Impressive? Not in the slightest.
We've been taught to accept this averageness in the
basketball program for as long as I can remember which
is 46 years. Ergo, this university has won a total of
(0) NCAA tourney games in its history.
We've been taught that a NIT bid is a result of a
successful season. 65 teams are invited to the big
dance every year. The NIT every year or two means
that your program sucks.
I go back again to the exmple of first year coach
Bruce Pearl at Tennessee. This years starters are the
same starters the previous guy had on the court the
year before and couldn't even finish with a winning
record or an NIT bid. Now they look to be a 3 or
maybe 2 seed in the NCAA and look to win the SEC
outright.
I know I can expect all kinds of replies that disagree
with my position. Whatever.... Keep thinking the way
you think about the basketball program and you can
expect the same results forever. Another 46 years
without a NCAA Tourney win would not surprise me one
bit.
