[Husker] Musings after last night

This is not a post in advocacy of Glen Mason by any means. I
think he probably needs to go. But, with that said one coach, in
particular the Head Coach, does not lose a game like Minnesota did
last night all by himself. Some blame would have to be put with the
Defensive Coordinator David Lockwood. But, as much as anything the
players. How do they just all of a sudden fall apart? Unless the
coaches had the players so out of position they couldn't do anything
the players certainly share in this defeat. The old adage you win as
a team and lose as a team I believe rings true.

The only time in my lifetime I have felt maybe Minnesota was
serious about moving the football team in the right direction is when
they hired Lou Holtz. I am no Lou Holtz fan and he did leave the
program in some disarray but at the time of the hiring I thought here
is at least a big name coach with a decent won lost record on the
collegiate level. I thought maybe the Gophers are getting serious
about this thing.

To be fair, though, most places I have been that are major
metro area with pro sports and a lot of colleges around don't get all
that juiced sometimes about a single program. There are exceptions,
of course, like Ohio State right in between Cincinnati and
Cleveland. I have been in St. Louis in the fall and between the Rams
and Cardinals you have to go way to the back of the sports pages to
find anything at all about Missouri football just for one example.
