I you look back at previous games, Coach Callahan usually does a good job preparing when he has time. I suspect that Nebraska was preparing to play Texas in the Big-XII Championship Game, then Oklahoma 'snuck' in there. So, the Huskers weren't as prepared as they could have been with only a week between the Colorado and Big-XII Championship games.
If I could get a flight in and out of Phoenix (with 3 Bowl games they are impossible to come by) I would have bought some tickets to the game. One other thing that may be keeping interest low is that January 1st falls on a Monday and most people have to go to work on Tuesday the 2nd. I am off this week, but start right back up on the 2nd and if you didn't have vacation time (PTO) left over from 2006 then you'd be starting in a hole. Most places I have worked in the past 15 years have gone to the PTO system which kind of jipts the employee of vacation time.
If the defense plays like it did against Oklahoma (they were finally healed up and rested after 11 consecutive weeks of play), Zac Taylor settles down and doesn't force things too much (something I have commented on in the past), and the running game is on (no injuries or early turn overs), then Nebraska will be competitive enough to win the game. I haven't look at any spreads out there. The consensus seems to favor Auburn over Nebraska. But as I stated at the beginning of this post, Nebraska does well when Coach Callahan has time to prepare.
NU wins by 3 to 7 pts (no wild ass predications this time!)
Go Big Red!
