Will Sadler be able to bring in the better players.. get them to come to NE
or is Basketball in NE basically doomed.. well not doomed, but you all know
what I mean. Can basketball 'get good' at NE like DUKE OR North Carolina or
is the best we hope for is an Illinois for instance that has a nice run every
once and a while. Like this year A&M?
I don't get caught up in subjective recruiting rankings, but those who do
rate this class of Doc's from the fall signing period, a good one:
Steve Harley 5-11 SG South Plains CC, TX
Shang Ping 6-9 PF Illinois Central CC, IL
Alex Chapman 6-10 PF Sheridan CC, WY
Alonzo Edwards 6-8 PF Houston, TX Klein Forest
Cookie Miller 5-9 PG Cincinnati, OH Harmony Community
Rishawn Norwood 6-4 SG Mt. San Antonio CC, CA
Brandon Richardson 6-0 Hawthorne, CA
Most were quite impressed that Sadler was able to do what he did in the
short time he had. According to those who supposedly know, he made some great
hauls in the JUCO ranks, which CAN be a good way to 'get good' in a hurry.
Ping is described as 6-foot-9 and "mean" by one analyst. I've seen Sadler's
class rated in the Top 20, for what that's worth. The early indication is that
Doc can both coach AND recruit. Wouldn't that be nice. We shall see on both
accounts, but a lot of the 'pundits' are saying nothing but great things
about Nebraska's new coach at this point.
